Sewer backup: identify the entry point
Note the first affected drain and any fixtures that drain poorly. Reduce water use and avoid contact with potentially contaminated water. Odours or a backup alone do not identify the cause.
Prepare the enquiry
Explain whether it follows rain, occurs with each use or affects several units. Ask whether clearing, a camera inspection or another assessment is proposed and what each step will establish.
