Rosemont is a mix of the same three-storey plexes and cast-iron stacks you'd find on the Plateau, alongside post-war bungalow-duplexes with finished basements. Much of the area is still on a combined sewer, where storm water and sewage run through the same pipe, a direct factor in backups after a summer downpour.

Streets where the system has already been separated into distinct storm and sanitary pipes are less exposed, but a backwater valve is still the best protection until separation is finished everywhere. Yards that tend to run deeper than the Plateau's usually make it easier to reach the outside shut-off and to park the truck.
